We are approaching the end of the here and as often happens, it’s time for rankings. Thinking of selecting, above the rest, the musical productions that left their mark is not easy. We rely on those that have moved us the most while listening to them with our speakers.
We tried to combine 6 albums released in 2021 with 6 Sonus faber speakers that can enrich the listening and to grasp its unique style.
Il Cremonese ex3me – Red Violin
Little Simz – Sometimes I Might Be Introvert
A long-awaited album, which has not betrayed the expectations. Energetic and celebratory sounds converge with great power in a work that is as contemporary as it is linked to a clear Afro-American musical tradition. Il Cremonese, in its ex3me version, celebrates the tradition and modernity of a brand that guarantees very high performance by combining modern design and materials with classic finishes. The strong and dynamic lines of this speaker remind us of the technique and energy that this young English rapper transfers from her studio work to the stage.
Billie Eilish – Happier Than Ever
The extremely famous American singer-songwriter, as always supported by the acute production of her brother Finneas, offers us a very convincing sophomore album. Without haste to search for the hit chorus, but with attention to details and unconventional solutions both at the instrumental level and in the vocal field. In no time, this girl has reached the highest peaks of the musical world, thanks to a unique and surprisingly mature personality compared to a very young age. So too Olympica Nova, a young collection full of innovation, from the Stealth Ultraflex ™ to the characteristic asymmetrical shape, immediately established itself with great success within the Sonus faber productions. The family that gives great satisfaction.
Robert Plant & Allison Krauss – Raise The Roof
When this duo released their first album Raising Sand 14 years ago, they went home with 5 Grammy Awards, including Album of the Year. Now, at a safe distance, they are back with a work in very similar intention, but with an even wiser and more structured reflexivity and mysticism. The simplicity of the arrangements tightens in union with two voices that meet so well that they create a third one when they appear together. Guarneri Tradition is the loudspeaker that most of all can embody these characteristics: the elegance of the vocal lines follows those of the cabinet with the iconic lute shape, the safety and reliability on each frequency reflects the experience of two artists who, in their respective genres, have made a piece of history.
Acclaimed by the critics and the public, enriched by excellent collaborations (Calibro 35, MACE, Gemitaiz among many), this work by the Italian artist communicates a natural and ultra-contemporary eclecticism. A record made of dreamy images, sounding at the same time deep and frenetic. Sonetto V contains all this, versatility and solidity in a floorstanding speaker with uncompromising lines, just like this record: not afraid of cataloging and judgments. The White Matte finish contrasts with the tie dye appearances of Venerus and his band.
The Oklahoma artist never ceases to amaze with her enormous talent and irresistible style. This new album is a dedication to the world of Soul, Funk, R&B: all wrapped up in a large psychedelic dress. Just like this Daddy’s Home, the Electa Amator III loudspeakers, enclose elegance and dynamics in a suit of different materials (Carrara marble, Walnut, Brass, Leather) that amazes for sound coherence and an inimitably Sonus faber style.
The Syracusan multi-instrumentalist made all Italy dance with this debut album. The wise guide of the Sicilian by adoption Erlend Øye (Kings of Convenince, The Whitest Boy Alive) produced a record of great freshness and spontaneity. Between dance rhythms and important smooth jazz references, we had no doubt in pairing it with Lumina II in Wenge finish, as if to recall the dedications to the boat decks of the port of Ortigia. From this under 30, almost out of nowhere, we expect great things. Even a “little” Lumina knows how to make us move to the rhythm of music, without having anything to envy to her bigger sisters.
