WhatHifi’s staff reviewed our Sonus faber Electa Amator III loudspeakers, proving that they live up to the name!

Target achieved: maintaining the brand identity

The author starts talking about the history of the company, highlighting that Sonus faber has changed much over the years. One of the most important change has been entering the McIntosh group.

Being part of such a group has great benefits in terms of resources and expertise but does run the risk of brand identity dilution. This is something Sonus faber keep trying to avoid by producing luxurious yet sonically gifted high-end loudspeakers with a solid link to past glories.

That’s where the Electa Amator III comes in.

Sound performance

Positioning Electa Amator III speakers in the room is easy: you don’t have to work too hard to get a great sound. The tweeter works to bring a detailed and never-aggressive sound.

These speakers track changes of intensity through the mid frequencies with skill and enthusiasm, bringing the best out of vocals of each songs.

Low frequencies are compact speakers so they’re never going to produce the kind of bass that makes furniture rattle.

The Sonus faber Electa Amator III disguise their relatively small dimensions brilliantly, sounding a lot more muscular and full-bodied than anyone would expect when used in anything but the largest of rooms.
