Sonus faber stands: high end loudspeakers

When it comes to high end bookshelf loudspeakers, stands play a fundamental role in the acoustic output. These structures are carefully worked out, from the choice of materials for the construction, to the materials “hidden” inside, to reduce vibrations and resonances, from the design of the body, to the way in which they propagate the sound. The stands, in some cases, complete the acoustic behavior of the loudspeaker in a symbiotic way and, from this point of view, every choice is aimed to achieve mechanical rigidity to ensures the transmission of the vibrations produced by the speakers on the support exclusively, thus guaranteeing a cleaner sound.

Sonus faber stands: the origins

The design of bookshelf loudspeakers supports has always been a fundamental task for Sonus faber a factory that, from its beginning in 1983, until the presentation of the first Amati Homage in 1998, produced exclusively bookshelf loudspeakers. In its first 15 years of activity, therefore, the commitment in the production of the stands has engaged the company under different points of view: the craftsmen to choose the materials (wood, then adding the base in stone, and in more recent times, aluminum) and the designers to approach the creation of the support (an integral part of the speaker both in design and in the project, versus an almost universal completion, suitable for different models).

Sonus faber stands: Guarneri Homage

In Guarneri Homage (1993) the stand was designed together with the speaker, becoming a key element to give the product a unique value. Over the years and the evolution of different generation of Homage collections, the stands of this precious bookshelf speaker have gone through a fundamental evolution and have been enriched with important technological innovations: for example on the base of the Guarneri Tradition stand (5th generation of the iconic model) we implemented the Silent Spikes, special spikes that decouple the speaker from the floors thanks to the patented Z.V.T. system (Zero Vibration transmissionTM), bringing the technology of the Guarneri evolution stand (Low Vibration Transmission) to an higher level.

Sonus faber stands: carbon fiber

A step forward in innovation is represented by the recent introduction of carbon fiber as a material to build supports. The automotive world has been of a great inspiration; thanks to the lesson learned during the partnership with Pagani Automobili for the development of the high-end audio system for the Pagani Huayra, we appreciated the ductile qualities of the carbon fiber, suitable for electro-acoustic purposes. The carbon fiber, created for the first time in the ’60s, in fact, is obtained by interweaving very thin filaments of Carbon and is able to combine low weight with extreme rigidity.

The search for an authentic sound has been our mission, since the very beginning. When approaching each of our collection, our commitment is to research and innovate, to ensure a pure and natural Italian sound that is the expression of the unique Sonus faber craftsmanship.
